Frequently asked questions
Answers to the most common questions about permanent makeup, scalp micropigmentation, corrective dermopigmentation and tattoos. For anything else, the first consultation is free.
How do I book a treatment?
Every dermopigmentation treatment (permanent makeup, scalp micropigmentation, tattoo or corrective dermopigmentation) starts with a free consultation, which can also be done by phone. During the consultation we go through all the hygiene, technical and commercial aspects.
Are there any contraindications?
The treatment is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding, for minors not accompanied by both parents, or for people with neurological or heart conditions or blood-clotting disorders. We use pigments that comply with the European REACH regulation and sterile single-use materials.
Does permanent makeup damage the eyebrows?
Properly performed permanent makeup places bioresorbable pigments in the dermis with a single-use needle. The hair papilla lies in deeper tissue and is not damaged at all.
Does the treatment hurt?
Dermopigmentation is generally not painful. Pain perception is very subjective, though: if needed, desensitising products can be used to reduce discomfort.
Are the pigments safe?
The pigments used in permanent makeup comply with the European REACH regulation, in line with current rules.
How much does permanent makeup cost?
The price depends on the treatment: eyebrows, lips or eyeliner (and lash line). To find out the price of each treatment, we recommend a free consultation first.
How much does scalp micropigmentation cost?
The price of scalp micropigmentation varies. It depends on how many areas need treating and above all on their density: a completely bald area is different from one that still has some hair. To define the price we always recommend a free quote, to understand which areas are involved and how many sessions are needed, for men and women alike.
How much does an artistic tattoo cost?
The price of an artistic tattoo depends on the design, its size and the number of sessions needed. We recommend a free consultation first to define the quote and the design.
What happens when my eyebrows turn grey?
Because the resorbable pigment fades over time, the colour chosen at first can later be replaced with a shade that better suits the inevitable colour changes of the eyebrows, keeping the result natural. This is also why permanent pigments are not recommended.
Does scalp micropigmentation work with grey hair?
Because the bioresorbable pigment fades over time, the colour chosen at first can later be replaced with a shade that better suits the inevitable colour changes of the hair as it turns grey, keeping the result natural. This is also why permanent pigments are not recommended.
Does scalp micropigmentation damage the hair?
Properly performed scalp micropigmentation places bioresorbable pigments in the dermis with a single-use needle. The hair papilla lies in deeper tissue and is not damaged at all.
Why does permanent makeup need regular touch-ups?
Permanent makeup pigments are bioresorbable: they are gradually removed by a natural process called phagocytosis and the treated area returns to how it was, which is why a regular touch-up is planned. Depending on the case it is needed every 6 months to 3 years, according to age, sun exposure, the technique chosen and lifestyle. Being temporary is an advantage: it allows both colour and shape to be revised. The sun is a colour’s worst enemy, oxidising the pigments: a nice brown can turn red, grey or even green or blue with artistic tattoo inks. The years also change the structure of the face, so an eyebrow arch designed today may no longer suit it a few years later. A temporary solution keeps the colour perfect and the shape right as time goes by.
What should I do before permanent makeup?
Although it is essentially an aesthetic practice, permanent makeup is close to the medical world: it works on vascularised tissue and needs the same precautions against possible contraindications. Every client should be aware of the potential risks, and the practitioner explains them in detail, especially for minors, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, when taking medication, or with cardiovascular, blood-clotting or neurovegetative conditions.
How many sessions does permanent makeup take?
Good practice starts with a design phase: the pigments are chosen according to skin tone, make-up habits and the colour of the eyes and hair. The design is then drawn directly on the face, based on a morphological study, to enhance the features. Once the shape has been agreed, the permanent makeup itself is done. About 28 days later, when the skin has fully regenerated, a top-up session may be planned to correct small imperfections due to healing, which varies a lot from person to person.
How often does scalp micropigmentation need a touch-up?
When a touch-up is needed depends on many factors: age, sex, lifestyle and skin. A touch-up every six months or once a year is usually recommended.
Can I have corrective dermopigmentation after surgery?
Before any dermopigmentation treatment, a free consultation is needed to examine the area, check whether the treatment is feasible and assess how long to wait after surgery.
